1990
Dynamic Designs Established
Craig Wilkinson establishes Dynamic Designs. The company name and brand identity that would
endure for over three decades are born. Copyright notices on archived pages trace the
company's origins to this year.
1991
Amiga Public Domain Software
Dynamic Designs is formally formed, initially selling Amiga public domain software.
The business operates from the UK, building a customer base in the Amiga community.
1994
Public Domain CD #1 & Ser-Link
In September, Dynamic Designs creates Public Domain CD #1 in partnership with Weird Science.
Craig Wilkinson and Garry Townend develop Ser-Link — software enabling an
Amiga CD32 to connect to a stand-alone Amiga via the serial port for file transfer, one of
the earliest networking solutions of its kind.
1995–1998
Transition to Windows Development
Dynamic Designs pivots to Windows software development. Work begins on desktop security
tools for Windows 95, 98, and NT. The Kids Desk project — a child-friendly
replacement Windows interface — is started, later evolving into the Lockout product line.
1999
Lockout Desktop Security Launches
Lockout Desktop Security goes live at dynamicdesigns.co.uk and lockout.co.uk.
The site features downloads, support, a message board, mailing list, and beta tester programme.
On 23 April 1999, a ZDNet Screen Savers feature drives over 2,000 recorded hits in a single day.
The site counter records hits since 8th March 1999.
2000
Product Line Expands
The website is redesigned with a full navigation structure: Home, News, Products, Downloads,
Search, Purchase, Support, Contacts, and Portals. Products include Lockout Desktop Security,
Lockout Window Hider Lite, Kids Desk, Hourly Scheduler, and POP3 Email Checker (coming soon).
Associated sites launch: lockout.co.uk, kidsdesk.co.uk, techsupport.org.uk,
virtual-pudsey.co.uk, and security.products.co.uk.
2003
Portal Hub & CD Access Control
dynamicdesigns.co.uk becomes a portal hub linking multiple projects. New products include
CD Access Control Pro. Photography sites gain prominence:
uk360s.co.uk (UK panoramic photographs) and
virtual-pudsey.co.uk (photos of Pudsey, between Leeds and Bradford).
Kids Desk is officially renamed to Lockout Desktop Security.
2004–2012
Web Development & Hosting Focus
As Windows security software demand shifts, Dynamic Designs increasingly focuses on
web development and hosting. The main site simplifies while associated
photography and community projects continue to grow.
2013–2017
Photography Gateway
The site transitions to a clean gateway page built with Xara Web Designer, featuring the
Dynamic Designs logo, a Craig Wilkinson Photography entry card, and links to associated
projects. Meta description updates to "Software, Web Developing & Hosting."
2018
HTTPS & Expanded Project Links
The site moves to HTTPS. Project links expand to include Britain in Pictures,
Pudsey Camera Club, Quadography, SmartSnaps, UK360s.uk, and ZiFi.uk — reflecting
Craig Wilkinson's growing photography and technology portfolio.
2020–2021
Streamlined Gateway
The live site settles into its final classic form: a single-page gateway with the
Dynamic Designs header, photography entry card, three primary project links
(Britain in Pictures, SmartSnaps, ZiFi.uk), a web visitor counter, and
copyright notice © 1990 – 2021.
2026
Modern Redesign
dynamicdesigns.co.uk receives a modern, responsive redesign — preserving all original
features and links while adding comprehensive About and History pages drawn from decades
of archived web content. The web counter, external project links, and photography gateway
remain at the heart of the site.
